How Does Information Get Into Your Brain?

Everything in your brain (all of your memories) got there through your five senses. You either heard it, saw it, smelled it, touched it, or tasted it. Based on the sensory path through which it entered, it is stored in a different area of your cortex. (This is a bit over-simplified, but it works for us 'teacher types' to better understand our learner's brains.)

If a learner can see something, hear about it, and hands-on 'do it' that memory is now stored in three areas of the cortex and it will be a much richer, thicker, fuller memory.

And this is why using multiple modalities while teaching is so very important to the process of retrieving encoded information!
